About What Rose Eats

About this site

This site is named for my daughter, who currently enjoys my cooking — although she may grow out of it.

Here, you’ll find inspiration for cooking yummy food at home and learn along the way with me. Discover simple recipes and baking projects for every day -- from the simple and delicious to fun weekend projects. With a farm share in the mix when possible, recipes, by necessity, focus on seasonal, fresh ingredients, as well as food that freezes well.

I also cover the occasional restaurant, COVID allowing.

About the author

I have been eating professionally my whole life, but started seriously cooking when I signed up for a farm share years ago and had to figure out how to eat pounds of zucchini and how to cook beets. It’s been a passion ever since, leading to nine course birthday dinners, eight layer cakes, and other mayhem.

I’m a Boston transplant to NYC’s Upper West Side (with stops in the West Village, Chelsea, East Village, and Harlem), where I live in a cozy apartment with my partner, Joe, our infant daughter, Rose, and our cuddly black cat, Sevan. By day, I work in user experience at a tech company.

When I’m not cooking or eating, I enjoy reading, bouncing my baby girl non-stop, and learning about wine. I have also been known to sample a dram of scotch now and then.
